Barbie, Bestie, and Birmingham

Fall is our favorite season, so it only made sense to do a best friend getaway trip for a weekend. Since we both live in Nashville, we decided to take a short road trip down to Birmingham, AL to check out the town and the Birmingham Museum of Art.

First stop was our TOO CUTE AirBNB. We loved having a home base that was cozy and adorable. A fair amount of this trip was staying in and watching Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened yet again, eating Insomnia Cookies, and doing each other’s hair like the ultimate middle school sleepover.

We hit the town for antiquing, coffee, and adventuring, and we were so pleasantly surprised with how great the antiquing is! Amanda found one of her holy grail items (an aluminum tree in original packaging), and I found a hoard of ceramic animals. We made stops at Pizitz Food Hall and Reed Books & The Museum of Fond Memories, which we would definitely consider highlights.

Our top of the list destination was the Birmingham Museum of Art, because they were hosting a variety of great exhibitions, but most importantly…

…Barbie: Dreaming of a Female Future! An exhibit in honor of Barbie’s 60th anniversary represented by a life size dream house of art and furnishings.

The female-curated and designed exhibit was so much fun! It was like living my dreams as a little girl to sit at a Barbie vanity and play with props like hand mirrors and pink chairs.

We were so pleasantly surprised by Birmingham on our weekend adventure. We will absolutely be back to see the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, Birmingham Zoo, and another round of antiquing!
